Day 01 / 07
introduction:
the you that god knew
I believe there’s a version of you that you’ve always known was there but haven’t quite been able to grasp yet. Not the one you see through comparison to others or the you created by removing all of your flaws to reach perfection. It’s the you that God sees, the one He’s known all along. Your God-given identity. And I believe He’s calling that you to the surface.
I sometimes get stuck in a cycle of my flaws, and I get this feeling, and I wonder if you do, too — that who I’ve been up to this point isn’t all that I can be. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for self-acceptance. But I’ve found that when I overcommit to the concept of who I am today, it closes me off from who I could be tomorrow.
But then, other times, in an effort to keep myself from feeling stuck, I can begin obsessing over all that I want to change and making that my sole focus. All that does is get me into this exhausting cycle of trying things in my own strength to become who I wish I could be. But I never seem to get there.
Have you felt this tension? Sometimes stuck. Sometimes exhausted trying.
God has been speaking to me about this and helping me to realign my thoughts with His view of the true me. In the process, I’ve created some habits and mindsets based on His Word to reframe the way I think about who I am. This week, I want to invite you into this process and show you some of what He’s been teaching me.
15
If today’s version of you doesn’t match God’s vision for you, it’s time to come up higher. It’s time to learn how He sees you & who He created you to be.
I think that our view of God is often filtered through how we see ourselves. If you see yourself as worthless, it's going to be pretty hard to worship and trust a God who thought you were worth dying for. So how do we start to truly see and believe His vision for our lives in order to live it out?
We have to get close to Him.
Growing closer to God to see yourself as He sees you is about embracing the identity He has given you, not the one you've constructed or the world has imposed on you. It's about taking off the old self with its corrupted desires and putting on the NEW self — created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. It's about reframing your perspective, not by the labels others might put on you or the ones you've accepted from your past, but by the truth of what God says about you.
What does God see in you that He wants you to reframe?
Switch the frame. It’s time to stop telling yourself the old stories of inadequacy or trying to be something you’re not, and to start declaring the truth of who God says you ARE. You are defined by the blood of Jesus, by the victory He won on the cross. That's your true identity. That's the picture God sees when He looks at you and He's calling you to live from that place of freedom and wholeness.
I wanted a way to download God’s truth deep into my spirit for the times I tend to forget how He sees me, and that’s why I created the mindsets we’ll walk through each day of this plan. Think of them as affirmations, or downloads from heaven to update your mind. I’m excited to share these with you and hope they’ll be a helpful tool in aligning your mind with Christ’s.
Prepare
Each day of this plan has an audio teaching, a scripture to meditate on, and prompts for reflection. Be intentional by having a notebook and pen or your favorite notes app ready to go. Respond to the prompts and write down what stands out to you each day. Engage with God in a way that is real and raw. Tell Him your desires, your struggles, and even your doubts. He can handle it. He wants all of you, not just the polished parts.
I hope this week creates more space for Him to speak and move in your life, and sets you up in new rhythms of closeness with Him. Are you ready? Take a moment and pray, inviting God into this week as you commit to the process.
SCRIPTURE
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
